Another week rushed by, we have been guiding on Ben Nevis, rock climbing and abseiling with some of our 'Active Kids', on the glenmore Lodge Towers with 9th Aberdeen Scouts and after a day of sorting kit we had a day out on the bike. A trip we like as it is good excercise as well as going into quite remote country with superb views of Ben Alder etc is to follow the river Pattack to Loch Pattack, then take a diversion on the return for a fast descent. Good track, boggy towards the loch but fun.

Active Kids and Boys Brigade

We had a great day on Wednesday with some of our 'Active Kids', Team Challenges, Treasure Hunt, Archery and Den Building. The kids worked and played really well together and the weather was superb, what more could we ask for!
Yesterday, Ian and I used the towers at Glenmore Lodge to run climbing and abseiling for a Boys Brigade group. They worked hard with all the challenges we set them and were tired by the end of it.

Most of the Spey in a day

We were guiding on Ben Nevis on Saturday, then on Sunday we decided to do a fairly quick descent of the Spey. By the time we had sorted kit and shuttled the van to Spey Bay, it was 5pm when we finally paddled away from Kincraig Bridge. The clouds were heavy and grey with the odd rumble of thunder but it got better and the evening turned into a very still, bright one. There was hardly any wind either. We stopped to camp just past Boat of Bailliefurth at 11.00pm as it was quite dark and there was a thick mist developing. By 6.15am we were off again into a still, sunny, misty morning, the kind we dream of canoeing in. We carried on to Craigellachie where we had a quick lunch at 1.00pm before heading off for Spey Bay which we reached at 5.30pm.
It had been a superb paddle, the low water level kept us on our toes as there were more rock gardens than usual to negotiate. Lots of birdlife, jumping fish and friendly fishermen!

Archery at Hayfield

We were with a group from Sportscotland last Friday running some Team Challenges and they were really up for doing stuff so it was a great session. Saturday we had an orienteering session with a group of children and their parents from Cairngorm Sport 4 All which was also much fun. Ian has had a couple of days canoeing with Loch Morlich Watersports whilst I have been sat at the desk and then yesterday we had some fun with Kevin, Amanda and Abby who wanted to have a go at Archery which we ran at our usual place at the Hayfield in Glenmore. The girls in particular were very competitive!
